SUMMARY:Traduire l’Autre : la traduction entre ethnocentrisme et xénophilie
DESCRIPTION:Le séminaire sur la traduction de l’ERIAC (axe 2)\, conduit par Philippe Brunet\, Romain Magras et Anne-Laure Tissut accueille plusieurs traducteurs\, théoriciens et praticiens depuis 2014. La table-ronde proposée met le doigt sur un problème crucial d’identité dans l’opération de traduction\, au cœur des principes de tradition\, d’ouverture par lesquels une langue et une culture données s’ouvrent ou non au patrimoine littéraire étranger. \nChez tout traducteur\, la question se pose d’une hospitalité contradictoire : accueillir tel quel\, ou offrir de beaux vêtements qui tenteront de masquer une étrangeté\, toujours inquiétante. \nLa traduction en France pèche parfois par excès d’ethnocentrisme. On croit encore bon traduire les Anciens en alexandrins comme longtemps en Italie on a voulu traduire Homère en hendécasyllabes. On répugne à l’étrangeté de l’accent intensif métrique en usage dans d’autres prosodies. On admire la prose\, au XVIIe\, mais pas seulement\, pour rendre compte de la diversité foisonnante de la poésie étrangère. C’est ainsi\, en prose\, que Marguerite Yourcenar croit pouvoir paraphraser Cavafy. \nOn assagit l’Autre. Parfois sous prétexte de dignité académique : avant tout\, le sens ! On unifie. Certains protestent\, comme André Markowicz voulant rendre les voix de Dostoïevski. Les critiques pleuvent. Le traducteur doit-il se garder de toute xénophilie exagérée ? Faut-il en vouloir à Klossowski d’avoir latinisé sa syntaxe française en traduisant Virgile ? On pourra partir d’une analyse d’Antoine Berman pour reprendre le sujet de l’ethnocentrisme et de ses remises en question\, ou regarder à nouveau certaines pratiques de la traduction au regard de leur manière d’acclimater l’Autre irréductible. \nL’université de Rouen a l’honneur d’accueillir le traducteur André Markowicz dont l’œuvre concerne plusieurs langues (russe\, anglais\, latin\, tchouvache etc.)\, des intégrales (roman de Dostoïevski\, Actes Sud)\, plusieurs domaines (théâtre de Tchekhov\, Shakespeare\, Lermontov\, poésie de Pouchkine ou de Brodski\, roman de Marina Tsvetaieva) et tout récemment s’est aventurée dans le domaine de la retraduction/réécriture avec les Ombres de Chine (Inculte Dernière Marge 2015)\, une anthologie considérable de la poésie chinoise\, sans partir du chinois. A publié plusieurs livres d’une écriture poétique personnelle. Et développe un blog sur Facebook dont un volume est paru\, Partages (Inculte Dernière Marge 2015). SUMMARY:Cultural Linguistics for Today’s Europe. Man\, Languages\, Values
DESCRIPTION:Given the way Europe is becoming more and more integrated\, cultural linguistics is certainly a very relevant approach. When it comes both to exploring individual national languages and the linguistic worldviews that form within them and also when looking for unity in diversity\, e. g. searching for common European values\, culturally based linguistics should prove an enlightening approach. The wealth and variety of European languages and their worldviews will be explored not only within the scope of verbal-acoustic languages but also within the scope of visual-motor languages\, esp. the Czech Sign Language. Leading researchers in Cultural Linguistics from six European universities (Rouen\, Grenoble\, Lublin\, Berlin\, Bratislava\, Prague) will contribute to the Cultural Linguistics for Today’s Europe: Man\, Languages\, Values conference as well as students and academic staff of the Faculty of Arts at the Charles University in Prague\, Czech Republic.
