SUMMARY:Percival Everett: Theory\, philosophy and fiction
DESCRIPTION:Colloque international organisé par l’ERIAC et la Percival Everett International Society (PEIS) \nFaisant suite aux rencontres déjà organisées à Rouen en 2013\, en présence de l’auteur\, ce colloque sur le romancier américain Percival Everett aborde toutefois l’œuvre selon un angle encore largement inédit. Plutôt que de se concentrer sur des questions d’identité et de représentation de l’ouest\, on partira des rôles joués par théorie et philosophie dans cette œuvre d’une grande cohérence malgré son aspect composite\, pour interroger le processus créatif\, la genèse du roman et les diverses sources d’inspiration qui le nourrissent. \nOn cherchera notamment à montrer en quoi la présence insistante de la théorie et de la philosophie dans le roman permet un renouveau du genre\, à travers un brouillage des frontières entre les tons et les genres\, ainsi qu’entre mediums artistiques. Seront envisagés en particulier les rapports entre écriture et peinture dans l’œuvre d’Everett\, afin de mettre en lumière les formes prises par la recherche de l’abstraction. Conjointement\, il s’agira d’éclairer les apports fournis par la fiction aux champs théorique et philosophique\, dans l’optique de faire apparaître « le rôle ambivalent et la singularité absolue du fait littéraire »[1]  ainsi que sa puissance subversive. En effet\, l’œuvre d’Everett manifeste la capacité de résistance de l’écriture littéraire\, conformément à la vision foucaldienne de la littérature comme « une sorte de monstre et une ressource\, mais aussi comme une formidable résistance »\, la « résurgence d’une certaine tradition de la pensée occidentale écartée par l’ordre dominant » (Favreau\, p. 8-9). \nL’une des ambitions de ce colloque sera d’explorer les interactions complexes entre le canon et les marges\, la pratique créatrice et la pensée critique\, l’art et la philosophie. \nLe colloque réunira des spécialistes de l’œuvre venus des États-Unis et d’Europe (Espagne\, France)\, ainsi que des philosophes.
